  1. I thought the V8s all had the cooler. The six speeds run hotter in these trucks. Every one I've driven (5 now) ran hot trans temps.
  2. It's not hard at all to figure. 1st gear ratio multiplied by the axle ratio gives you the final drive. Offhand I don't know 8-speed ratios but I'm guessing it will be lower overall.
  3. You lose power assist. There is still a mechanical connection to the rack from the steering wheel.
  4. I washed my truck today too. It rained.
  5. E85 isn't worth is currently around me, the price differential isn't enough. That and winter blend E85 has lower ethanol content so you don't get as much of a performance gain either.
  6. Hope that works out well. I hate seeing these bigger lifts that do the rear with blocks. It's a recipe for axle hop.
  7. Sometimes the rear doors on mine won't fully latch at the top. This makes for more wind noise as well as rattles on bumps. Just give each door a tug with the front open. As for the ISS clunk, congrats on making it this long without it. But looking at it won't give any indication. Besides, the clunk comes from the slipjoint underhood by the exhaust manifold.
  8. Not much of anything the past few weeks- been on the road pretty much straight out for work. I renewed my registration and got a new plate last week, flew back to NH for a long weekend to burn off some PTO and get to spend some time in a 2015 Silverado rental and then came back, did laundry and was back at the airport 14 hours later to head to Calgary. Got home early Friday morning, slept in, knocked out some paperwork and called it a day. Drove to grab lunch and dinner but that's about it.
  9. The unlock lighting should be able to be disabled under the vehicle configuration menu under "approach lighting".
  10. Renewed my registration and got a new style license plate. For $5 I figure I can keep changing it as often as new designs come out so if I ever leave the state I'll have a collection.
  11. "Driving" it on the lift can make it act up but honestly the scan tool won't pick up the sensor being corroded- if there were a fault/code stored the ABS light would light up. This is just one of those things you see on the trucks that see snow/salt and being in Toronto, you certainly do.
  12. They are overpriced, I don't deny that which is why I laughed like mad back when I had the Tacoma and got General AT/2s for $100 less PER TIRE than BFGs and the truck was still a monster in the snow, drove nice on the highway and everything else I needed. They're good tires but I'd never pay a premium for them.
  13. I'm glad you solved it but this is an extremely common issue on the 800-series trucks and SUVs- did you just deal with it or were repair shops not able to solve the issue?
  14. Daryl I've had P-series AT3s on my truck for almost 2 years now. They've done okay. Snow performance could be better but it isn't bad either. My pick is still the General Grabber AT/2. Or despite being overpriced the BFG AT is a good tire too.
  15. I've been a bit skeptical of non-offroad GY truck tires since I got my 2003- It had Wrangler STs and I think ST stood for shitty tire. No good off road (which was not surprising), bad in the snow and terrifying in the rain.
  16. Not a huge chrome guy but the accents look much better on the new trucks compared to the old where they seem clunky.
  17. Making the truck line its own brand was done strictly for marketing reasons. Nothing special about Ram vs Dodge Ram other than the new ones have been redesigned, same as they would under Dodge.
  18. Aww come on, booster seats count as a mod.
  19. GMC builder for 2015 is up finally too. You have to select 2015 after clicking build and price though cause it defaults to 2014.
  20. You still looking into that owner/operator hauling stuff?
  21. A $50k Power Wagon and a $50k Silverado are different beasts- $50k will get you a nicely loaded up Silverado. Or the same will get you a lightly optioned Power Wagon. Right now though Ram is offering $5k off these so there is a bit more room to option up the truck but for the sake of fairness I'm comparing MSRP to MSRP.
  22. The Raptor is gone now and the Power Wagon is a laughably low-volume vehicle. And Ram has gained market share because dealers are willing to knock $10k or more off the price of a new truck. Nice right now but it dooms trade-in values and it's not sustainable. Off-road trucks are nice and they attract a lot of attention but a turnkey truck is going to be more money than most are willing to pay. Stuff like that gets people in showrooms but the Raptor and Power Wagon have to make up a single-digit percentage of overall sales. The Raptor is fairly popular but I've never seen a newer Power Wagon on the road, not even a Chrysler test rig and I see just about everything else they have as I live about 20 minutes from Chelsea where their primary test facility is.
  23. Call it whatever you want but the 900-series was the exact same way. 6-speed was only on the Denali, then all 6.2s and then standard on all V8s and I think by the end all engines had it. They always stagger rollout of major new stuff.
  24. Sucks. Guess I'll need to check mine now too.
  25. You watch that video too?
