  1. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 8-15-2019 General Motors' Chevrolet division has announced the price for the new rear-mid engine Corvette and it is a pleasant surprise for fans. Chevy says the new Corvette's base price is $59,995. Fans will want to take note that the price does include the destination fee. For a vehicle with such amazing capabilities, this price point is almost unprecedented. “Most people thought when we moved the Corvette to mid-engine it would no longer be attainable, but we knew we couldn’t mess with a winning formula and the 2020 Stingray proves it,” said Brian Sweeney, Chevrolet U.S. vice president. What may be even more of a surprise, is that the highest-trim of the Corvette, the 3LT, has a price tag of $72K. You can view the features and content breakdown below. GNM isn't holding anything back it seems. The full pricing and order guide is now available at CHevrolet's website for future owners to check out. If shoppers still have questions, Chevy has set up a dedicated Chevrolet Corvette Concierge team that will provide 2020 Corvette customers with answers about the vehicle discovery, buying and ownership process. The team, which is based at General Motors headquarters in Detroit, is working 12-hour shifts each workday and can be reached by calling 866-424-3892. (Our apologies for the image quality)
  2. I'm looking to do a full interior swap/update on my '99 silverado, don't know much about interior fabrication but i'm going to do what I have to in order to make it work. For now I plan on taking everything I can out of a part-out silverado from 2014 or newer and throwing it straight into my truck. If anybody has any tips or prior knowledge from a project of the same nature any help would be appreciated. From what I could find, not many people have documented this sort of thing on YouTube and the ones who have only show off the final product instead of the full process or steps they needed to take in order to get what I'm looking for.
  3. I'm looking for a replacement ECM for my 1998 Corvette. The part is only good for the 97 and 98 model years. Changes were apparently made for model years 99 and newer. Delco part number if useful is: 19332289 or 16238212. This part has proven much more difficult to find than I anticipated. If you or anyone you know own one, please let me know. I'd love to get my car back on the road!
  4. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 4-27-2019 General Motors expects its next-generation Corvette to boost sales significantly, and GM is staffing up to build the car. The current generation Corvette was introduced in January 2013. With the new Corvette set for an official launch this July, that means the Corvette design we all know and love is now six and a half years old. The last of the outgoing generation Corvettes - a black 2019 Z06 model - has been donated to charity by GM. The final seventh-gen Corvette will be auctioned at the Barrett-Jackson Northeast sale in Connecticut June 28. GM will be adding a second shift to its Bowling Green, KY factory. That will boost jobs at the plant by 400. “The Corvette’s iconic status owes so much to the men and women of Bowling Green, where it has been built exclusively for almost 40 years,” said GM Chairman and CEO Mary Barra. “This is the workforce that can deliver a next-generation Corvette worthy of both its historic past and an equally exciting future, and today’s announcement gets us one step closer to its reveal on July 18.” GM has built more than 1 million Corvettes at the Bowling Green factory since it opened in 1981. The plant currently generates more than $76 million in state wages and $15 million in income tax. GM-Trucks.com will bring you more information on the new Corvette once Chevrolet releases details.
  5. Zane Merva Executive Editor / Publisher - GM-Trucks.com Februrary 7th, 2019 Yesterday we brought you an exclusive look at the new logo for the 2020 C8 Corvette in a digital high-resolution format. Although the logo had been previously rendered through a leaked key fob passing through FCC certification, GM-Trucks.com gave you the very first official version of the emblem in digital format. Today, we've got part two and it's even better: A brand new, never before seen, blacked out version of the 2020 Corvette's iconic emblem The corresponding gauge cluster startup animation Your first look at the brand new Corvette script First things first, what's a startup animation? Well, these days a lot of new GM products use an LCD display in the gauge cluster, or even use a display as the entire gauge cluster. The C7 Corvette (and now C8) uses a large 8-ish inch screen for most of the gauge cluster. When you open the door, the gauge cluster "starts up" showing an animation, usually with the Chevrolet logo or in this case the Corvette's logo and script. Our 2019 Silverado LTZ has a Chevy Logo animate on it's 4 inch gauge cluster display. This is a C7's Gauge Cluster. See that huge screen? The C8 is going to have a variation of that. Maybe the same, maybe larger. Interesting to note, this crossed flags emblem is not the same as the logo we leaked yesterday. Instead of a chrome surround it sports a blacked out trim. It looks mean, nasty, and one may presume it just may be destined for a performance variant of the Corvette. Is this the emblem for the rumored Zora model? We won't comment specifically on how we obtained this animation. We can say it was collected from publicly available file by a third party and passed along to us. This is the gauge cluster start up animation for the up-level (Zora?) 2020 C8 Corvette Here's a closer look at that blacked out emblem variation And here's a closer look at the 2020 Corvette Logo Script- which has evolved from it's C7 form Here's the C7 logo and script for comparison What do you think? Are you excited for the Corvette to go mid-engine? Do you think Chevy's graphical updates to the logo and script are living up to the hype of the 2020 Corvette?
  6. Zane Merva Executive Editor / Publisher - GM-Trucks.com Februrary 6th, 2019 This is the first of two GM-Trucks.com 2020 C8 Corvette exclusives. CLICK HERE TO READ PART TWO Images of the C8 mid-engine Corvette logo have been out in the open since late November. They showed up on a leaked key fob undergoing certification last fall with the FCC. The internet has run wild with speculation since but no-one has gotten their hands on a real digital version of the 2020 Corvette's logo. Only enthusiast renders based on the leaked fob.... Until now. GM-Trucks.com has the first exclusive look at the official logo in digital format. We won't comment specifically on how we obtained it. We can say it was obtained from publicly available files by a third party and passed along to us. Enjoy! Tomorrow, we'll give you the very first look at the 2020 Corvette's dash cluster start up animation.
  7. Zane Merva Executive Editor, GM-Trucks.com 9/4/2018 Sure, we're a truck website. But gosh darn do we love a nice Corvette. With rumors swirling over the past few years that Chevy would move to a mid-engine configuration in some form during the Corvette's eighth generation, heads have been exploding trying to find out more. We've wanted more. You've wanted more. Will there be a mid-engine vette and what will it look like? We just want to know. We just HAVE to know. And now... we do. Yesterday our spy photographer contacted with some mind blowing photos and we couldn't wait to share them with you today. We purchased the rights to post them here immediately. Behold, Spy Shots of the all new 2020 C8 Corvette undergoing testing at the Nurburgring in Germany. There are OVER 75 photographs. So, we put them all in a image gallery here. Some of our favorites are posted below but to see them all click on to the image gallery. Expect this all new mid-engine Corvette to debut in the next year and go on sale in 2020. 2020 C8 Corvette Spy Shots
  8. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 7-31-2018 Two recent studies done by our friends at iSeeCars.com have looked at two different aspects of vehicle ownership. The first study looked at which vehicles are driven the most. That report also had information on which were driven the least and the Corvette came out on “top” in that listing. The newest study casts that in an even more interesting light. The new study looked at which vehicles owners keep the longest. Interestingly, the Corvette was again at one end of the Bell curve. It is the “passenger car” that owners keep the longest. iSeeCars.com’s CEO, Phong Ly explains the Corvette’s long average stay, saying, “Sports cars tend to not be primary vehicles, which is why owners might hold on to them longer than the average car since they are not subjected to as much wear and tear.” Do we have any Corvette owners in the group? If so, how long have you had yours and why do you think the Corvette is the longest held, least driven car? Feel free to chime in if you haven't gotten your 'Vette yet too.
  9. How do you all feel about the mid eng corvette or the looks of it i thing it looks like a Ferrari to me from the spy shots
  10. John Goreham Contributing Writer, GM-Trucks.com 6-4-2018 GM’s Executive Vice President of Global Product Development, Mark Reuss, had the unfortunate and embarrassing experience of crashing a pace car this weekend at the Detroit Grand Prix Indycar event. Reuss lost control of the Corvette ZR1 in a corner with uneven pavement. The vehicle appeared to oversteer and corrections sent Reuss into the wall nose first. Thankfully, Reuss and a track official in the passenger seat were uninjured. Members of GM-Trucks.com staff have met Mark Reuss on multiple occasions and have shared racetracks with him. Mr. Reuss is “guy’s-guy” who is very easy to speak to. We’ve had the pleasure of sharing meals with him and informally discussing a wide range of topics. Mr. Reuss has also granted Zane Merva of GM-Trucks.com formal interviews to give updates on truck developments. At the track events we visited, Reuss took advantage of media days to get to know and hear from members of the media during important Chevrolet and Cadillac performance model launches. He also took advantage of the open track to turn hot laps in the products he helped bring to market. His competency behind the wheel of 700 hp + cars is not in question. Mr. Reuss also knows this particular track, having driven it on many occasions before this event. GM issued this statement on the accident: “We are thankful that there were no serious injuries. Both the pace car driver and the series official were taken to the infield care center, where they were checked, cleared and released. It is unfortunate that this incident happened. Many factors contributed, including weather and track conditions. The car’s safety systems performed as expected.” Mr. Reuss posted a comment to his personal Facebook page thanking friends, family, and GM fans for their support. Since the post was not public, but only shown to his FB friends, we have opted not to reproduce it in its entirety as other media have chosen to do. Reuss apologizes in the post, and thanks his well-wishers, but says he let people down. We don’t feel let down. If a pace car isn’t a real track car, and if it isn’t going to be driven hard, then what’s the point?
  11. The Venom GT uses a twin-turbo 7.0L V8 Chevrolet engine modified with two turbochargers. It has a Ricardo six-speed manual. The Venom GT is capable of a 0-60 MPH sprint in under 2.4 seconds and can run from 0-200 MPH in under 13 seconds. Hennessey's Venom GT Hardtop is the current high-speed record holder with a recorded time of over 270 MPH.
  12. We like the look. This conversion could be used as a grand touring vehicle with room for luggage. A spare tire might fit. Going off-road and hunting off the back tailgate, like the original shooting brake autos were designed for, is probably not in the cards, but who knows? Tell us what you think below. Visit Callaway for more details.

  14. With 460 hp and 465 lb-ft of torque the LT1 has enough power and twist for most road-going project cars or track day cars. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q50GD8eIra8&feature=youtu.be GM is calling this its most technologically-advanced crate engine ever, which is high praise given the LT4's higher power and torque output. You can learn more about the new LT1 here at Chevy's website.
  15. The Grand Sport is all about lightness and cornering. Chevy calls it "A pure expression of the car’s motorsports-bred pedigree." This track-'Vette starts off with the LT1 V8 engine rated at (343 kW) 460 hp, with dry-sump oiling system and active exhaust. Both the rev-matching 7-speed stick and 8-speed paddle shifting automatic are available, and the auto has a Grand Sport-specific calibration. For the first time, the Grand Sport can also be combined with the Z07 package. When set up this way, the car can corner at up to 1.2gs. Chevy says that the new Grand Sport with Z07 package is within a fraction of a second of the prior ZR1's time around the Milford Proving Ground. Here are the highlights of the package: Michelin Pilot Super Sport summer tires: 285/30ZR19 (front) and 335/25ZR20 (rear) Specific Grand Sport wheel design: 19x10 inches (front) and 20x12 inches (rear) Brembo brake system with (355 mm) 14-inch rotors and six-piston calipers in front and (340 mm) 13.4 inch rotors and four-piston calipers in the rear Standard magnetic ride control, specific stabilizer bars and unique springs Standard electronic limited-slip differential Front Fender Inserts, Z06 Grill, Widened Rear Fenders Optional Grand Sport Collector Edition features an exclusive Watkins Glen Gray Metallic exterior with Tension Blue hash-mark graphics Available Z07 package adds carbon ceramic-matrix brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport 2 Cup tires. The Grand Sport will be on sale this summer in the U.S. and the Grand Sport Collector Edition in the fall. Chevy plans to offer the Grand Sport in Europe as well about three months behind the U.S. inventory allocations.
  16. The newest addition to your Christmas list will enable your project car to pack the same punch as a "vette. Chevy says the new engine is "The perfect balance of performance and efficiency, the LT4 leverages the technologies introduced on the 2014 Corvette Stingray’s LT1 Gen-V small block, including Direct Injection and continuously Variable Valve Timing, while advancing the supercharging technologies established with the previous-generation Corvette ZR1’s LS9 engine. The result is a surprisingly efficient engine capable of producing 650 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque." Chevy says the kit can come with a wet or dry sump lubrication system. The good folks at Chevy can also offer a kit to enable the engine to fit an automatic transmission. Related Stories: Boost or V8 for your Chevy project truck? Why not both? 17. If you want to know if the Corvette Z06 is unbeatable you are going to have to buy Car and Driver's October issue and check out pages 66 and 67 (or peek at one on the newsstand ). We will give you a quick rundown of some cars its 2:44.6 lap-time beat. First, its closest competitor was the 2015 McLaren 650S Spider. Behind that was a 2016 Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4. Next up 2008 Viper ACR. The new ACR couldn't make it to the show and CD talks about that car separately in the issue (page 114). The 911, all the Ferraris and all the Mercedes cars are lower on the list as well. That's as much as we will say. Talking about the Z06 and its performance on the VIR course Jim Mero, a Chevy ride and handling engineer, mentioned that CD will use up to 20 laps to find a car's fastest time. Interestingly, Mero says he spent more than 80 laps on the track before he tried to put down a fastest lap. Tell us your guess about the Z06 being the fastest production car. In your answer be sure to make your case that any car you think is faster is actually a production car. Meaning you could go to a car dealership and buy one (if you had the money).
  18. If purchased with a 7-speed manual, the car will be slightly slower, making the dash to 60 in 3.2-seconds. Quarter mile times are quick; just 10.95 seconds for the automatic and 11.2 seconds with the manual. Braking performance is also exceptional. 60-MPH to zero only takes 99.6-feet. Lateral acceleration tops out at 1.2G. These figures were achieved with the optional Z07 performance package, Brembo carbon ceramic brake rotors, and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires. The 2015 Corvette Z06 starts at a bargain $78,995 and goes on sale in early 2015. “The Corvette has long been known as America’s sports car,” said Mark Reuss, General Motors’ executive vice president, Global Product Development. “With the capability of the new Z06 rivaling the best performance cars in the world, we will also be America’s Supercar.”
  19. Here's some quick details on Z06 pricing and packaging: Standard magnetic ride control, performance traction control, and electronic limited slip differential Optional Performance Data Recorder (PDR) Standard heads-up display Aluminum frame is 20% stiffer than previous Z06 Carbon Fiber Ground Effects Package [$2,995] Adds carbon fiber front splitter, carbon fiber rocker panels, and a larger rear spoiler Z07 Performance Package [$7,995] Adds an adjustable version of the carbon fiber ground effects package, Brembo carbon ceramic-matrix brake rotors, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport Cup tires Available in 1LZ, 2LZ, and 3LZ trim packages Optional leather wrapped interior, competition sports seats, carbon fiber interior trim, and a visible carbon fiber roof for the Coupe Several exterior color options and brake caliper color options Two transmission options - 7-speed manual or 8-speed automatic The 2015 Corvette Z06 amounts to a more powerful but a-la-carte version of the previous ZR1. Enthusiasts rejoice!
