How Much Amperage Draw Can The Stock Charge System Sustain?

I'm looking to add an amp to power a 12 inch sub. I was wondering how much reserve the charging system had with the stock alternator. I don't want to change the alternator or have any dimming lights or other problems. I saw people talking about it in another thread, but I can't find it now. I'm looking at an amp that will draw less than 50 amps.

Thanks,

I have a 400 watt amp that is powering a two 12s. The only thing I did to the charging system is upgrade the alternator to battery wire, and add a ground from the neg. side a the battery and the alternator bracket to the frame. I posted some pics

The "big 3" is very important.

The older the vehicle the more important.

Here is the first link that pops up on Google.

Big 3

I just added some cables that I bought at WalMart.

Battery negative to frame.

Battery positive to alternator positive.

Frame to alternator mounting bracket.

Remember ... most of the items built by the factory is controlled by the bean-counters NOT design engineers.
