New Gears Installed

I bought OEM gears back in April but could not get together with my buddy (GM mechanic) for the install until last weekend. I am quite pleased with the performance so far. No gear noise at all. There is not a huge difference but you can definitely feel the truck going through the power band quicker. After a couple of days of taking it easy I did a WOT run last night and it even chirpped the tires on the 1-2 shift. I had Justin adjust my BB tune for the new gears and I will see how much my MPG changes. The truck sees mostly city driving so I don`t expect to see much of a drop.

I'm jealous. I have 3.42 and they suk, esp with a 4 spd. Was thinking of 3.73,but worried about milage effects. Keep us posted on what happens with that after your gear change.

Freaking nice! Congrats on the gear install. These are heavy trucks so, having a 4-speed trans, better gears make a nice change.

That is exactly why I went with the change. Even with the BB tune, from a dead stop there was no giddy-up. You had to get moving before the power kicked in. The guy who did the install drives a Escalade with the 6.2 with a six speed and it really does make a difference. He is much faster off of the line then me.

I am also looking into doing this, but I also want to add a tru-trac while I'm changing into 4.10 gears. Nice mod to your V-Max bro, you going to keep moding it?
