Heater Control Switch

My heater control switch quit working for the fan. It worked intermittently for a while and if I taped the switch it would come on and speeds 1-4 worked fine. Now I got nothing for all speeds. Do I just need to replace the switch in the dash or do I need to look elsewhere?

Sounds like the same problem my father had with his 2005 silverado. position 5 stopped working then 4 was intermittent and then all stopped working. The Blower resistor goes bad and then it melts the harness which causes it to short. The blower and resistor are located under the dash on passenger side. Pretty easy repair. 30 minutes tops.

Had to replace 2 parts and it starting working fine. Tried to buy from dealer and it was super expensive. looked on ebay and was around a quarter of the price.

I actually bought a color coded harness which was easier to work with if you search a little i'm sure you can find it.

Thanks for the help. The blower resistor was cooked, but the harness is fine. I picked one up at the dealer today and had it back together in no time. Thanks for the ebay links I'm just too impatint, especially when it's in the 90's.
