1997 Door Chime? Drl?

On my '97 Sierra, am I supposed to have a door chime or a chime that sounds when the truck is started? I bought this truck used in April and I have never heard it go off.

 

Also the daytime running lights icon appears on the dashboard, but they don't work on my truck. Both the regular headlights and the high beams work, but the DRLs don't. Are the bulbs just burnt out, or is it a problem with the wiring?

The DRLs are the high beam bulbs. Probably someone pulled the fuse. It's the fuse panel on the drivers side of the dash. You can get to it with the door open.

 

As for the chime, it should ring if the key is on, and the door is open. Or, if you have the lights on with the key off. Pulled mine years ago.

check fuse number 15 in your inside fuse box for drl.

mine too does not chime when I open door and lights are still on, replace chime you say?
