Amp Question

I have a set of pioneer PRS720 on the way and i need a amp., I dont plan on running speakers in the extended cab doors so just front speakers. The speakers are 50 Watt RMS., 200 max

Can i get a 4 channel amp (for future upgrades) that puts out 75 watt rms per channel and only use 2 channels?

Is 75 watt RMS to much for 50 watt RMS speakers? (200 watt max)

or will those 2 channels become more powerfull than 75 watt rms since im not using the other 2 channels?

If the speakers ate reated for 50 watts RMS, then dont put any thing over 50 watts RMS power to them. Regardless of what the peak or max power is. The RMS rating is what you really need to pay attention to. Peak or max refers to one sharp peak for maybe a second or less where one point of a song is very loud or very low or something like that.

That would be fine you can even hook up your factory speakers to it. Speakers blow from lack of power its always better to have an amp that is rated for more power than what you need. Just make sure everything is adjusted correctly so that you don't have clipping I have run amps on factory speakers for years with no problems the only reason I replace the factory speakers is if they are already blown or if they aren't a co-axial speaker.

If you can set the gains correctly and use common sense, you will not destroy speakers by connecting them to an amp that is "too powerful." FYI, my components are rated for 60 watts each, but the amp connected to them is capable of feeding them 175 watts each.

Those 720 components are a bit power hungry too, they would never really come alive with just 50 watts. If I were you, I would bridge the four-channels of the amp into two and use that to power each side of the set. Having extra power headroom is nice!
