Transfer Case Leak Front Gasket

Recommended Posts

Please help, i know very little about trucks or fixing them. i bought a 2003 2500hd gmc sierra and had to do a lot of work to fix it up.

Now I have a problem that my mechanic cannot seem to fix. there is a leak (transmission fluid) between the transmission and transfer case. my friend/mech changed the seal between the tranny and the transfer case. it was a flat seal i think paper seal. It stopped the leak for a week and then it came back this time a lot less but there were still a few drops. He redid the seal and this time added silicone and it seemed to stop leaking. however I drove it around and there was more fluid after driving. the fluid is coming down the tranny mount that is in front of the transfer case. he is out of ideas and wanted me to check if there is something that he is missing..

any help would be apreciated. I hope this is the right place to post.

every search i do for transfer case leak talks about the pin hole leak from the back side of the transfer case. however I dont see the hole nor is there any fluid on the back half of the transfer case. its just a small leak coming right down from where the seal is.

thanks guys. please dont make fun of me,
