I started this thread before, but there was a loss of posts.

SO...all you guys with Classic GM Trucks check in and let us know what you have!

I'll go first...

I have a '76 Suburban 1/2 ton 2WD with 454 CI and TH400 transmission.  It has almost 95K miles, I'm the second owner.  Since I bought it last year I have rebuilt the carb, rebuilt the PS pump, rebuilt the frontend suspension, gotten a valve job, installed a Performer Intake and DynoMax CeramCoat headers with 2-1/2" exahaust, all new ignition components with recurve kit, new stereo and speakers, new Michelins, heck...I can't remember it all!!  Oh yeah...new Hellwig sway bars.

I am working on updating my web page to show some of these mods...I'll post here when it's ready, hopefully this weekend.

oh yeah, it's my daily driver!!

OK, who's next??

I have a 1978 K5 blazer 400 th350 np203 full time 4 X 4.  My dad bought it new and gave it to me when I was 14. It was well used (read in lots of mud, snow, partys etc.) It eats trannys like they go out of style. Original motor with 245K miles on it. Still runs good. I'm in the process of giving it the love it deserved. I sat out back behind the shop for about 4 years now. I just got it running again a few days ago.  I bought a 76 suburban for 400 bucks for parts. I put the motor in my dad's 78 1 ton and the rear end in my blazer.  That was worth the 400 bucks right off the bat.  :)

Great, there's a couple more guys.  The '84 counts as a classic because it is still carbureted, although it is electronicly controlled.

As for the Blazer, I have a friend with a '78 Jimmy that sounds about the same...was his dad's when new, then his sister's, and it's been his since high school.  I think it has over 300K miles, but can't remember for sure.  Are there any good parts left on the '76 Suburban?  I am trying to think if there's anything I need.  Mine is pretty complete.  What motor did it have?

Actually I just finished chopping it up into 4' squares. You know you get over 100 dollars for the Truck as scrap metal this way. They were only going to give me 25 buck for the truck as a whole.  I already took off everything worth while. Axles doors fenders hood etc. Now my blazer will have a power tailgaite. :)It had a 400  th350 np203.

I understand...at least you were able to salvage the good parts.  Recycling, whether with wrenches or the chop saw, is an inevitable part of having old trucks.

The body wasn't worht anything anyway. The back right side was smashed in and the floor boards were almost paper thin.  It had spent a few too many years down on the Salt Lake.  The hood and fenders were all recently new so they were worth keeping. Me and my DAD both have 1978 chevy trucks so the parts will definetly come in handy.

I love the '68-'72s...I was looking for one off and on for about 4 years.  Most of what I thought was reasonably priced was rusted out.  I can deal with mechanical problems, but I HATE rust!

What's your running gear or other equipment?

 You talkin to me?!!?...

Just kidding!  I am currently running a 355, iron head doublehumps, Th350, 3:73 12 bolt, factory buckets...I'll try to post pic.  To many plans to mention(where to start)

Its a 68 Jack.  The 68 model had the side marker lights for the first time (Federally Mandated in 68).  Thats also the easiest way to identify 67/68 Camaros!  The trucks got a 71 front crossmember under it (disk brakes ) also.   Regardless the 67/68 are my favorites of the 67/72 trucks.  Just prefer the front ends with the sloped hoods I guess.
