Detailed the Sub this weekend

After the swap meet last weekend, and a junkyard day on Friday, the Sub was in need of a deep cleaning.  Did the usual wash and dry, sprayed all the mud off the undercarriage etc.  I also cleaned the vinyl seats with Tuff Stuff (cheap but really great for cleaning vinyl and upholstery).  Looks great!

Also had to install a new AC blower fan.   A note to you guys with '70s GM trucks, the AC blower fan sold by AtuoZone is about 1/4" too long.  I had to take it back and get one from O'reilly, that one fit correctly.  Didn't realize how weak the old one was until I installed the new one, feels great!

Finally, I was detailing the engine compartment when I found the cause of my electrical gremlins lately.  The Sub has had an intermittent hot start problem, which I attributed to a remanufactured starter I had recently installed.  Turns out the main ground wire was loose, cause by re-using a large self-tapping screw.  I replaced it with a bolt and nut and everything seems to be working better now.

Funny how when diagnosing these problems we can miss some of the basics...

Awesome deal, Jeff!  by your signature picture, it looks very nice and shiny in there.

Congrats on pinpointing your starter problem, too!  I bet that's a relief.   It is amazing what you can find by just exploring and how you realize that you jumped to conclusions before investigating thouroughly.
