Looking for advice

Hi guys/gals,

I'm new to the site but like what I see so far. I have a 98 C1500 Ext cab/3rd door. I am looking for advice/websites for a speaker install. I have 2 6.5" inch for the front door panels but want 2 more for the rear. Was going to put them in the pillars but with the 3rd door.....that pillar is awful small. Has anyone put 2 speakers elsewhere in back? I would like some 6X9's or another set of 6.5" to go in the back. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance......

Welcome to the site Scooter.  Glad you like it.

Unfortunately, I can't help much with stereo/audio stuff, but I'm going to move this to the Audio Forum.  You may be able to get a quicker answer there.  :D

if you want to get creative you could make some boxes and try and mount them. i personally went with a 4" component set from DEI. that way i get the nice crossovers, and a little woofer and tweeter. the DEI comes with a plate to fit them in a 4x6 hole. which is nice. i have a picture, but webphotos is being a pos lately.

whole point of rear speakers is for rear fill. if you have 6.5s in the front and just want some fill some 4x6 plates would work. unless you are dead set on bigger speakers.

Thanks Nexus. I appreciate the advice and was thinking of going that way anyway. I am going to have 2 10" subs under the rear seat anyway so all I need is fill.

Can you tell me where DEI is? Do they have a website? How do they sound?

Thanks for all the replies.

they sound great. even for a small little 4" woofer they produce nice mid range. and the tweets are very clean. the crossovers alone are worth it. very well matched. i'm very happy with these speakers. i plan on running DEI speakers in anything else i own. but thats me, everyone else can have different tastes.

Thanks for the URL. Now another question. I saw the Pro series 4 inch and they say they are only rated for 30W RMS and I am running a 75W per channel (4 channel) amp. Will I be able to run these or am I going to have to get a smaller 2 channel amp for the rears? I was hoping to use the same amp as the 6.5" Bazooka's I am going to run in front are rated for 75W.

I didn't see anything mentioned on the metal pltes you told me about. Is this something the retailer will have? Thanks again for the info. It is much appreciated.

not the pro series. has to be the Studio series. that uses the neodymium magnets. their specs dont list the 4x6 plate. but its there in the  3045 model.

Right on Nexus......Thanls for the pics. That really helped. Just one more question..........how much do these things run? In the general area as I know different vendors have different prices.

Thanks for all the help
