Factory Nav Installed In Non-nav Truck - Questions

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I am new to this board and hope I can get some help with my Nav questions....

I put a factory anv in my 09 Sierra and some things make me ponder.....

My Bluetooth dial feature will no longer hear my voice. It actaully says 'No speach detected' when I press the bluetooth dial button. If I use OnStar to call out, it works fine and understands my voice without issue. My bluetooth does work in the fact that when I am answering the phone the other party hears me. When a call comes in it does announce who is calling with my pre-recorded info so all is not lost.

Second - how do I get my rear-view camera to display on the Nav? It works on the mirror but I would really like it to show up on my Nav screen.

Third - How can I upgrade the program inside the Nav? A buddy of mine has a new Yukon with the factory Nav and there is some differecnes in the units. I would like mine to have some of the features his has.

I really appreciate any help!!

i would guess there should be a downloadable upgrade somewhere, either GM or the NAV software provider.

possibly have it programmed by the Dealership, which i was just quoted $140 to do.

pm sent to ya, i'm thinking about doing the same thing.

The head unit usually gets its software updates from the Navigation Disc, each new one changes something like the last one 4.1c changed some of the security settings allowed increased functionality while moving, and made the clock numbers bigger in the top right corner.

If you have the 09 XM module with NavTraffic it will will display an icon on the Nav screen different then other previous models.

The rear camera has to be programmed by the dealership using a Tech 2 tool. Just tells the vehicle it now has a camera. In 2009 I believe they changed its display location from the Nav screen to the mirror as a safety issue to ensure your eyes stayed up high instead of looking down. Most manufacturers have changed to his rear view mirror screen. Too small if you ask me.

I would call OnStar tech support and see if they can download new firmware to your vehicle...tell them you changed module so they send new version. Give them the VCIM ST ID# if you wrote it down before install.
