Help Fixing Door Rattles

Recommended Posts

I've got a 2001 Silverado Ext. Cab Z71 with the cd player up with the radio and a separate tape player down in the console.  When I listen to music on this completely stock system I get horrible door rattles that sound like they are mainly coming from the speaker grilles.  The bass on the deck isn't turned up hardly at all, but I still get rattles from bass.  The stock system sounds really good, but would sound 100 times better if it was rattle free.  How can I fix this?  Would Dynamat just around the speakers or on the entire door be worth it?  And would it stop the rattling?  I paid 30k for a truck and wasn't expecting it to rattle like 30 year old truck.  Thanks.

I have the same problem on my truck with new Kappas and Pioneer radio.

I only get a buzz when i have it turned up and am pretty confident that it will all go away with some Noise Supression panels (dynamat), and some thin rubber speaker gaskets.

Ill do it one day :D

Dynamat is a rip off, IMO.  Look into eDead by Elemental Designs.  I've used V.1 and just ordered some V.2.   the V.2 is just as thick as dynamat extreme and at a fraction of the price ($250 for about 36 sq ft of dynamat and $70 for 60 sq ft of eDead).

BTW, I sound dampened my doors and no more rattles.  I have a dedicated midbass in each door too.

I meant to put a link in here:   http://www.edesignaudio.com/ep/edead.htm

I'm actually gonna go with B-Quiet or Brown Bread.

BTW, Dynamat is $99 for 36 sq ft :D

I've used brownbread.  It's pretty good stuff.  Still a little expensive.

Where in the heck can you find dynamat extreme for $99?  Retail is $250.

i don't like any of the peel on stuff    I used rockford noise killer spray in mine and it got rid of any rattle that was lingering around

I suggest changing the stock speakers  especially up front  your missing out of some good quality from the paper  that they like to call speakers
