Our '07 E450 rv with the PowerStroke averages between 50%/75% BETTER fuel economy than a gas version

Our '04 Freightliner 'Sprinter' rv conversion with the in line 5 cyl MB diesel could get 28 mpg routinely, but hook up a utility trailer with a GS inside going for a ride and the mileage would nearly be cut in half. Would you believe that coming home from Detroit, where the blower took its own vacation, we got exactly 30 mpg's-we also put down more smoke on hills than an old KW, but 30 miles per gallon, sans turbo!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Three VW TDI's, the original 90 hp 1.9 NEVER got less than 57 mpg US, and with a restrained right foot could get you 62 miles on a gallon.... The only thing more astounding about the TDI was the amount of smoke you COULD put down after driving for max mileage for a few thousand miles. It was sort of a neat feature; you know for that convertible, or super agressive bicycle rider, or runner that put your knickers in a twist. 100% on demand, no smoke if you wished, or a pure black cloud that would obscure two lanes for about a hundred feet, seriously.
