63 Series K&n Cold Air Intake

I have a 2009 Silverado 5.3l, and bought a 63 series K&N cold air intake system that fits a 2008 Silverado.

I ran into some issues, and I realized why they did not offer it for the 2009.

The 2009 Air flow sensor is intergrated onto the Airbox top all in one peice.

I am not sure if the 2008 is the same.

With a little modification, WalLa at it now works, I had to use my multitool and cut off the barrel the airflow sensor fit into and that is all one piece with the Airbox Top. The kits comes with all the banding and couplings and it fits like a glove.

I love the throttle response and it is too new to determine the fuel economy.

Both these statements contradict each other...

I can tell you...the more you love the throttle response of your new intake...or the sound of your new exhaust...or the get up and go from another unspecified mod....the more fuel you will burn...not because you get worse fuel economy...but because you will more often than not be putting your foot in it.

Thanks for your insight, I have heard that it can improve the fuel economy, but knowing that more air intake requires more fuel as well. I not a lead foot, but there in no lag on the throttle that come when needing to get up and go...

Any advise is warranted thanks for correcting my statement

Don't worry man...it comes from experience...It has to get old before you can really gauge a fuel economy difference...and do it over a lot of tanks....like 3 months...or more.

It will give your economy a boost...but only after you forget about it. if your monitoring your results, you will unconsciously drive with a lighter foot to squeeze every mile you can out of a tank. If you just like to hear it suck the air in at higher RMP's than you will just get worse economy...tracking it over 3months, 6 months, or longer will give you an unbiased result.

Chances are.... 0.5MPG...thats my guess.
