93 Yukon - Driveline Whine.......anyone Else Have This?

Hey everyone,

My 93 Yukon sems to have too much driveline whine. Its seems to be worse when I let off on the throttle and its coasting....when I accelerate its not as bad or noticable. Its really noticable at slower speeds, around 50 or 60 kms/hr.

almost sounds like its in 4wd, but its not. Its difficult to tell where its coming from. Its has 3:42 gears(RPO code GU6). I have yet to change all the fluids out and am planning to go synthetic in the diffs, and transfer case. Maybe this will help??Did these have rear end troubles?

Anyone else have or had this similar issue.

Thanks......... :D

I would change out the fluids and see what happens from there. I had a buddy who stepped up the ratio on his old truck and the gears just whinned. The rears are not know for problems. The deal with the driveline though is it includes the tranny too.... Does it seem worse at coast because you are not on the gas? I would find a side road and get a good roll and pop the trans to neutral and coast. See what you uncover from there. I find it helpfull to drive around the neighborhood too and get the sounds to bounce off the wood privacy fences.

It does seem worse when im off the gas and its coasting.....I guess when the driveline is 'unloaded' or 'floating'....best way I can describe it.

Good idea about finding somewhere to let it roll and pop the tranny into neutral.....I will definately try this and see if there is any change.
