Low Rpm Engine Surge

Recommended Posts

I have a 1994 Chevy 1500 4x4 with an auto tranny and when i am accelerating from a stop if I do a slow steady accl. between 500 and 1800 RPM the truck stumbles and surges , this also happens when setting still and trying to hold engine at appx 1800 rpm then when I let off it almost dies (never actually has) so i replace plugs, wires, cap, rotor bug, and control module in distributor. i have also replaced the idle air sensor/control module and another sensor (forgot name). The truck is not showing any error codes and runs real strong once i break that 1800 rpm mark... Sorry So long thank you for any advice

Have you checked the knock sensors? Also if you disconnect the battery does it run better for a little bit and then start doing it again?

My Dad had '91 truck and it had a surge like you described. In his case it was the fuel filter.

Good luck.
