Good morning, everyone!

My dad has had the same 1972 GMC C1500 since I was born. I grew up in this truck. I remember always knowing dad was home because of the sound that V8 made when it came down the street. Yesterday, he gave it to me. Because of my history with the GMC, the first vehicle I purchased was the Chevy's model of the same year. It was the C-10.

The truck runs very well, but needs a bit of aesthetic work. Otherwise, it's solid. It's not even rusted!

I do have something I need to do pretty quickly, though. The power steering pump is missing a bolt, and is leaning on the balancer. It just rubs. I need to find the top bolt, and get it in there asap. Does anyone know how I would go about looking for this? I've looked at engine parts and power steering kits, but haven't found anything yet. The engine that's in it is a 350 V8 / 4-barrel carb. I'm not sure how many litres it is...

Anyway, please let me know.

Here's a picture of my new truck :

First off, congratulations and welcome aboard!

Looks like you may be in Colorado? What part of town you in? I haven't been under the hood of a 72 in while, but I recall those pumps bolt up in a seperate bracket that is adjustable. You need to pull that thing out to where it should be aligned and see if there is a bolt missing in the top of the bracket where it would sinch to the block. I bet Grampadirt will have the correct answer for you, I know he has (or had) one like this. You have a 5.7L motor by the way, but we still understand the old fashion CID nomenclature around here... Have a look at this catalog and order one up for yourself, they provide plenty of reference materials as you work along. http://www.lmctruck.com/icatalog/cb/full.aspx?Page=136

Hey, thanks a lot! I'm in Grand Junction. The top mounting bolt is what's missing. I'm going over to Napa today to see what they have in stock. Need a couple of other things over there, anyway.
