What's The Correct Tape For Attaching The Oem Tailgate Cap

I have a 2004 Chevy Silverado Crewcab 4x4 with the OEM plastic bed and tailgate caps. In addition to the funky OEM screws on the outside, the cap is held onto the tailgate on the inside with double sided tape. Previously, I used standard 3M foam backed, double-sided tape, but over the weekend the entire cap ripped off the truck while I was unloading a bunch of tree trimmings. That stuff is intended for household use and is obviously not strong enough.

 

Does anyone know what the correct tape is and where it can be purchased?

3M doubled sided automotive grade moulding tape. It should be a gray in color rubbery material, not a foam type.
