Truck Ordered, Need a 5th Wheeler!

Greetings,

 

My wife and I (mostly me) have been looking at trucks and 5th Wheelers for a couple years. Now that my truck is finally on order, we need to decide on a 5er.

 

We attended a RV show at the Rose Bowl (Pasadena, CA) about a month ago and found a 5er that we both thought was awesome.  It's called a Sky Deck and includes the typical things except there is a flight of stairs inside that leads up to deck on top of the trailer.  Up on top there is a bench seating for several people, BBQ, Sink, TV and power outlets, Umbrella and more.  It really is very nice.

The reason why I am posting here is to find out if anybody knows anybody who has one of these Sky Deck RVs?  This is the first year in production and I would like some input from somebody that has one before spending the cash.

 

We will be attending a large RV show in Pamona sometime next month and we are planning on purchaing then.  Any feedback you have is welcome.

It looks pretty interesting.  At 34' with at least 2 slide outs and the extra equipment on the roof in must be all kinds of heavy, and it's definately tall and aerodynamically draggy, but they show it hooked to a 2500HD, so that must be enough, right?

 

I wondering if it can be airconditioned, cause my A/C unit is on the roof.

I never saw one of those before but it's a great concept, especially if you like going to NASCAR events etc...

 

I'm assuming that trailer must have basement AC, but it must be pricey too.  I'd be nervous about water leaks 10 years down the road since this is a first model year production unit.

 

My old boss just bought a new Travel Supreme 5'er and he made a road trip to get it.  He bought it from Tom Rapers RV Sales in Indiana.  He says he saved $10 Grand over the best price locally...

That is what I was thinking.  That would be great for Nascar races.

If you don't by that 5er, be sure to look at the Arctic Fox.  It's very rugged and well built.

Good Lord, that's a monstrosity. What ever happened to plain old camping? Does it come with the servants too?  

 

I've never heard of them either, but check out www.rv.net. There's a bunch of RV related stuff there.
