Starter Question

Okay, have a question...

Several times in the last month, as the truck is starting (once the motor catches and starter releases) I have heard a very awesome clak clak clak sound... =(

2x it was only about 2 clacks, and once it was about 8. Kinda thinking that the starter might be going out or the return spring might be going... Had the starter looked at and tested, they say it works fine... Awesome. Gears have 'normal' amount of wear and don't show any chips or anything. connections have been rechecked. The truck has never failed to start.

If anyone has any other ideas, it would be greatly appreciated. Just looking for some other inputs before i actually drop the $150 for a replacement starter.

2003 GMC Yukon Denali 125k miles, 364 ci 6.0L .... just bought last year about this time so i don't know if it's the original starter
