Aftermarket Head Unit

Hi folks, love the website! Hopefully someone can help me out:

 

So I've been looking to upgrade the factory deck in my truck with something more recent, but ran into a problem. Because my truck came with the factory 6 CD changer and rear DVD player, I've been told that no aftermarket decks can interface with those, and I'd lose the functionality of them.

 

My question is...were they just full of baloney or do I have to go through GM to upgrade it?

welcome to the site. I would think you would need to get an aftermarket deck that is CD changer capable. Im not sure what the factory plug is, and if it fits an aftermarket. Highly doubtful. Nothings impossible. I would pull it apart and see whats back there and do some research on what kind of harnesses you can get.
