4l80e 1995 Gmc C3500 Transmission Problems

ok,

first let me say im new here and beggining to get very frustrated with this truck... it was one of my fathers canteen trucks... the transmission was rebuilt and the truck has sat for almost two years...

 

last week i put about 80 hours in it day and night to get this thing going, just as im prepped to start making my flatbed( this is going to be my welding truck) i go spend $400 dollars to register it and go for a drive after about 20 minutes it stops shifting and get stuck in 2nd gear...

 

i come home today get in the truck go for a ride shifts perfectly runs beautiful, then as soon as i think im good it stops shifting seems to be stuck in second gear...

 

seems like it stops shifting out of second when it gets warm or when it wants... before it sat it shifted perfectly

i hope its not something in the tranny because literally about 15k ago it was rebuilt, fluid is good and etc...

 

its a 454 with 170xxx on it.

 

any help would be greatly appreciated, anyone know what to start with? i cant afford to just bring it to a dealer! im 23 and struggling to start a business and im willing to do any of the work by myself. i spent so much time prepping this truck for a new flatbed (fuel lines,brake lines,steamed the rust off frame, brakes,etc. etc.)

its either defaulted to 2nd gear to get your attn because of a code or the transmission lost its power,,0 volts =off solinoids =2nd gear

 

get it scanned and calm down abit,baby steps oh young man lol

 

$27 will get cheap service info from alldata for a year subscription or get a haynes or chilton manual,and follow the code diag as far as possible and then take it a shop,no need to take it to a dealer at 15 yrs old

im hoping it cant be anything too serious, because when i first get in the truck it shifts fine, then it goes into 2nd gear...

anyone know how to pull codes on a 1995???

 

i think it is my ign . switch because i came outside today and my fuel pump was running ..... tapped my ign. and it went off...

if i jump the aldl a-h i get codes 42

 

if i jump it a-b i get 85 and 87 and i cant figure out what they mean
