Problems Installing Edelbrock Headers On Tahoe

I installed some edelbrock headers on my tahoe and there's several problems I found.

1) The driver side manifold has a hose that runs from the top of the engine to a hose connection on the rear of the new header, but the hose has a female hose connection and the new headers also has a female hose connection. Is there a female to male fitting that will allow the connection to work properly?

2)After several problems, we finally managed to get the new headers on, but I have an exhaust leak where the new headers connect to the existing exhaust pipe flange on the drivers side. What is the proper direction for the exhaust crush rings? Does the beveled side fit to the headers or the exhaust flange? We put the Dr side in with eh beveled side toward the header and that side is where the leak is ocurring. On the Pass. side we tried to put crush ring in the other way but werent successful and it got messed up, so we just put the original ring back in and it seems to be fine?

3)We could not get bolts into two of the holes to connect the headers to the exhaust pipes. It seems there is a clearance issue? Any Solutions?

4) Getting the Pass. side header on required removing dipstick tube, but after installing the new header the dipstik tube does not fit in its proper position, WTH?

 

This sure seemed like it would be alot easier project, but I quickly found there is no such thing!

If the stock manifolds were'nt big rusty, inefficient boat anchors I wouldnt have to go with aftermarket but so deal with it!

I even believe there are other members on here with SS Tahoes. 2003 were sold as true SS's and the 2000 was a LTD version but some dealers labled them SS's.

I suggest you research the Tahoe SS. Apparently in 96' OR 97' the Tahoe SS was a concept created by John Moss, but never produced. However, when Chevrolet was changing their factory's to produce the newer Tahoes in 2000, the Arlington, TX plant turned out about 8,000 Tahoe Limited's that were going to have SS emblems but due to insurance cost the emblems were left off. Basically, they took a Tahoe and made it badass!!

You are correct. The SS badge meant higher insurance costs and related fees. 2000-2002 were ltd's with all the motor that the SS had. Very nice vehicle!
