Blue Granite Metallic Color Matched Grille

So I got two verified part numbers for my truck, 19158485 and 19158487 via gmpartsdirect.com. Both say they're blue granite metallic (paint code 46U) but the latter of the two is slightly more expensive. Does anyone know the difference? Thanks!

top and bottom grill parts? I know for the Avalanche there were 2 separate parts and part numbers and I needed both to switch out the grille from the chrome to the black.

I don't believe they're 2 separate parts...especially because they're both pretty expensive haha...if that was the case I'd expect one to be a good bit less...can't rule it out though.

This is way off topic but I figured one of you guys might know this- Occasionally when I let off the brake (after having come to a complete stop) the truck will make a "clunking" noise/feel...aaand again when I come to a complete stop. Doesn't do it all the time. I'm just puzzled since I only bought the truck brand new in July.

 

I had it tuned, but I really don't drive it hard. Any thoughts?

OK,Either one would work for you...

Part#19158485 is the GM accessory grille.....19158487 is the GM "OE" grille that comes as part of the "WEA" appearance package.

Doesn't do it all the time. I'm just puzzled since I only bought the truck brand new in July.

Subject: Clunk Noise at Stop or from Launch (Clean/Lubricate Rear Propshaft Slip Yoke Splines)

 

 

Models: 2007-2009 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Series

 

2008-2009 Chevrolet Avalanche, Suburban, Tahoe 1500 Series

 

2007-2009 GMC Sierra 1500 Series

 

2008-2009 GMC Yukon, Yukon XL 1500 Series

 

Equipped with 4WD (RPO NQG, NQH)

 

 

 

Attention: This bulletin contains a procedure to clean/lubricate the rear propshaft slip yoke splines and replace, if necessary. Check the history on this vehicle. If the lubrication procedure has been performed previously, then continue on and replace the transfer case rear output shaft.

 

Condition

Some customers may comment on a bump feel or clunk noise at a stop or on launch. Customers may also comment that the bump feel or clunk is noticed after the vehicle has come to a complete stop and that it feels as if the vehicle was bumped from behind.

 

Cause

This condition may be caused by a slip/stick condition between the rear propshaft slip yoke and the transfer case rear output shaft splines. Braking to a complete stop can force the propshaft slip yoke forward into the transfer case while the vehicle rebounds slightly backward after stopping its momentum.

 

Correction

Note: The clunk noise may also be due to fuel movement in the fuel tank when not completely full. If the condition is eliminated after filling the fuel tank, the noise is isolated to the fuel movement in the tank. Please make no repair attempts, as this noise is considered an operating characteristic.

 

Verify the customer's concern.

 

Clean/Lubricate Rear PropShaft Slip Yoke Splines

Remove the rear drive shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in SI.

Inspect the rear propshaft slip yoke splines.

Note: Protect the transfer case rear seal from Brake Clean.

 

Clean the rear propshaft slip yoke splines with Brake Clean or equivalent and a shop towel.

Assure that the splines are free of rust or other foreign material.

Lubricate the spline with Automatic Transmission Fluid, P/N 88861003 (in Canada, 88861004).

Reinstall the rear drive shaft. Refer to One-Piece Propeller Shaft Replacement in SI.

Road test the vehicle and verify that the noise is gone.

If the vehicle has a repeat concern after lubricating the slip yoke splines, replace the rear output shaft.

Replace Transfer Case Rear Output Shaft

Note: Do Not replace the output shaft unless the cleaning and lubrication procedure is ineffective.

 

Remove the transfer case assembly. Refer to Transfer Case Assembly Replacement in SI.

Disassemble the transfer case. Refer to Transfer Case Disassemble in SI.

Replace the transfer case rear output shaft. Refer to the Parts Information below.

Assemble the transfer case.

Reinstall the transfer case assembly.

Yes...ah as soon as I posted that I searched "clunk" and found the tsb you posted a while back...definitely gonna have to get that taken care of. Since it's still under warranty, would my tune being in be an issue if I took it in to have that remedied? I haven't ordered the autocal yet and I don't have a spare pcm.

    • This is a 1/2 ton thing ONLY.  All HDs 2020-2026 have the two speed transfer case, with Autotrac as an option.     1/2 tons 2019-2026, regular 4x4s come with a single speed case (no 4LO!), and trucks with Z71 ordered, or all Trail Boss trucks come with the 2 speed case.  2 speed case is also an option on WT, and is also standard on High Country.  
    • 2013 5.3 still to this day calls for the PF48 filter.  Which as a 15psi bypass pressure.     There is a TSB, 17-NA-157 that talks about the PF-63 and PF-64 filters which have a higher bypass rating of 22psi.    TSB HERE - temp.xml   "Beginning in 2012, the oil pumps began to regulate main gallery feedback instead of pump out pressure. This means that the oil pump now does not begin to regulate until pressure is built up to the main gallery. This change reduces the amount of time it takes to provide oil to the engine bearing and lifters during extreme cold start conditions.  Main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are present on the following engine families which use Spin-on oil filters: Small Gas Engine (SGE), Large Gas Engine (LGE), High Feature (HFV6) Gen2 and Small Block Gen5 gasoline engines. These engines with the main gallery feedback oil pump control systems are factory built with an ACDelco® oil filters"   It also calls out what engines use those filters.  The gen 4 small blocks were not on that list (LMG, LC9, L9H, L92, L94, L20, L96).  Gen 5 small blocks use the higher pressure filter.          That all said...   Your 7045 Napa filter is the PF63 equivalent, with 22psi bypass.  You are already using the higher bypass pressure filter.  You CAN keep using it, you don't technically have to use it though.  
    • Do you know WHY the filter relief setting was increased to 22 psig?    When the new system goes into the second stage the pump volume ramps up considerably. It was found that the 15 psi filter bypass setting put the filter in bypass on a warm engine when the second stage was activated. Raising the filter bypass setting forced the filter to do what it designed to do. Filter. Preventing debris from circulating during high load, high rpm operation.    So next question is how did GM find this out? VLOM/lifter failures and a deep dive by Melling Corp.    Last question. Is it required? Look at it like this; a motor may be equipped with a rev limiter. But it only works if the set point in reached. That 22 psig setting only matters if the pressure differential across the filter media exceeds 15 psig during normal warm operation. Second stage kicks in around 3000-3500 rpm.    I can't answer your question because I don't know you and how you use the truck. But I think there is enough information here to let you decide for yourself. 😉
    • Probably not their first rodeo, so it should go as planned most likely.  Typically the service manager or tech doing the swap will put some seat time to shake it down after they get it all put back together.  We usually put 50-100mi before we hand them back so if something happens, its not after you get it.  A coolant leaks, oil leaks, a ground left off or loose, vibration, etc.     The new engines so far have been good?  There's been a couple that have popped out there again (the replacement engine) but most have been okay.
