Now that I and Jr. Parrish have done our HID headlight conversions, I was just wondering what you guys think about them. Anyone out there considering it.

I really would like to do it....but...the only kit I would feel safe (looking like OEM) using is way too much $$$ (Slyvania Xenarc 2010)....I'm still looking at other ways of doing it.

I would love to do it.  I've seen the HIDs on trucks around where I live at night and it looks super-cool.  Unfortunately, I'd rather spend that amount of money on some nice tires or something else like that.  Plus, I got the big KC Daylighters so I don't really need the upgrade anyways.

I've done a couple of the conversions and they are super slick!!!! Talk about lighting!!! The price is continously going down. They started out at $900, but we're now selling them for $649.

They are really high quality too. I haven't done them to my Silverado yet, but I will!

The prices are lower than that. I paid $570 with the shipping for a Phillips 6000K system. If you are looking for a quality kit check out www.xenondepot.com. Also excellent customer serivce.

I believe he is talking about the Silvania Xarc system that comes with a new headlight housing with the HID system.  Very nice system IMO.  When it comes down a bit more, I'll be buying this kit.

Right, those are the more expensive ones, but are a good way to go if they make one for your vehicle. I have been really happy with my HID kit.

I don't know why everybody is saying HID kits are too expensive. Go to Ebay and buy a cheap import kit for $100.00 or less. I bought one about two years ago and I couldn't be happier. If you do purchase a kit, I would get the 4300-5000 color intensity bulbs they are the brightest. They are pure white not blue or purple, so you won't look some kid in a ricer.

I bought a kit from Never Burn Out for about $275 including shipping. The kit it pretty easy to put together - it takes more time to prep the truck (removing the air box, removing the battery tray, loosening the window wash bottle, removing the coolant overflow tank) to get at the back of the light housings. I had ordered the 6000K's since they looked closest to white with a slight blue tint, but they were way too blue to me. NBO said that 5000K's would be better, but didn't have any available, but sent me some 4300K's which are very white, I just wish they had a slight tint of blue, but all in all I'm happy. Their customer service is excellent at making sure that I am a satisfied customer. Their bulbs are guaranteed for life, but the ballasts are only guaranteed for 16 months.

I only did my low beams, in my highs I had a pair of Silverstars that I pulled out of my 04 Silverado. The light spread is OK in town, but on the open road I wish the lenses would project a little further down the road, but the clear look is in now, not the focusing lenses like in the 80's and early 90's. I had a pair of Cibie Z-beams on an 87 Vette and I could see so far down the road that I could easily drive at 100 mph and not drive over my lights.

If you want great open road lights you need to buy a BMW or figure a way to install those in your truck.

These are a great improvement. My friend's 06 SS's lights suck in comparison to mine.
