Since I took delivery on my 2011 Sierra HD gas'r I haven't had a chance to pull our camper. Anyone been pulling anything with a 2011 GMC and what kind of gas mileage are you getting? With the added weight due to the frame and suspension improvements, I am really interested in what mileage will be.

When I tow with my 09 I'm pretty sure I can actually see the needle moving towards E. Is that bad?? :) ..... :M16:

My previous truck (tundra) got 7 mpg pulling our old camper so I know we will get less with the Sierra and a heavier camper. I am figuring 5-6 mpg. I guess we'll find out this spring. With the additional 700 lbs of added weight GM made with the frame improvements etc. didn't know if anyone had a pre-2011 model and now has a 2011 model for comparison. with these gas prices, going to have to work some OT before our summer vacation!!

My previous truck was an 07 Vmax with 4.10 gears and towing my travel trailer, I saw between 9-13mpg. Not quite the same truck, but you'll be in that same window. :smash:

    • New to this forum.  Also looking to tune a 6L80 and trying to work out all the issues in my transmission swap.  I have a 6.2 diesel (1983) and have removed the TH-400 and about to put in a 6L80 with a TCM-2600 interface and don't have a clue what I doing after that.  Did you (Leatherneck/RAV3) get your slip resolved? I too hate to spend that kind of money on a tuner that hopefully I will not need too many times although from what steelerdude15 added about the HP Tuner being great for diagnostics would be a plus.  I am also from WNC but below you in Columbus.  Any helo would be greatly appreciated.

    • Wouldn't swapping out the original AFM/DFM parts for a complete Delete Kit be the best route to go if one could afford to go that route?
    • It comes with directions but yes, generally, it's the same.  Also, get you the dipstick stuff to install dipstick so you have one.
