Trailer Electric Brake Wiring 97 Tahoe

Everywhere I look I see different ideas for wiring an electric brake controller on my 1997 Tahoe 4 door 350. The Tahoe has not been wired previously as far as I know. I see harness's and adapters but most exclude the 1997 year. I would appreciate help from someone who has been there. Do I need a harness? If so what specific manufacturer and part number will work. I am not opposed to splicing wire if that's my only alternative. I haven't purchased a controller yet because I am not sure of what wiring method would match up with a specifi controller. Any ideas will be greatly appreciated!!!!!

i am afraid there is no real easy wat to plug it in on 1997 and older chevy's you have to find the wire that is the cold side of the brake light switch to tap into here is a short article from e-trailer you might be able to contact them and get further guidence ,i use the activator II from drawtite they also sell b/c
