What Size Were Stock 95 Yukon Tires?

What size were the stock 95 Yukon 4wd tires?  My Yukon had a body lift installed by the previous owner with 33" tires.

Going down the highway at 70-75 mph, it has trouble pulling up grades without downshifting to maintain speed.  Do stock 95 Yukons have this problem, or is it caused by the taller tires?  It has 3.73 gears, by the way.

Stock tires would have been 245/75/16's.  The 3.73's are likely the problem.  You'd be better off with 4.10's, but the problem could be any number of things.  The 350 under the hood is pre-Vortec, which was rated at 225HP compared to '96 and up 350 Vortec which is rated at 245HP.  Again, things like the miles, air intake, exhaust, weak plug wires and on and on could be also contributing to the problem -

PS - The 33's are equal to a 285 or 295/75/16

Mr. Dave:

"Height Kills Ratio"

That's just one of those axioms, like "lefty-loosy righty-tighty" ya know.

I had the same setup ....3.73 gears and a 1995 350 in a 4wd. My truck's performance was super....until I stuck on a set of 33"s....  Sure the 33's were great in the sand and mud.... But I could do much of the same with the stock tires!

Good luck.  PS  I wouldn't change my rear end ratio unless I had a pocket full of cash....you'll have to do the front too ya know!

Thanks for the replies.  I bought it with the 33's on it and really don't want to go to 4.10's.  The truck is in great shape mechanically and the engine feels as strong as its going to in a vehicle this heavy.  So it looks like my only reasonable option is going back to a shorter tire.  Hopefully that will help with mileage too. :(

You could go back to a 265/75/16 and that will certainly help.  You could also try a tall and narrow tire for less rolling resistance, but it will still probably affect the drivabillity some.

Yeah, I've been thinking of going to the 265/75R16's.  It looks like I could go to that size and take the body lift off.  It looks like the only place I would have interference now without the body lift is more because of the width of the tires and not the height.

Anyone know what a stock aluminum wheel and 265/75R16 weighs?
