Towing Trip Report

Recommended Posts

Posted

I know a lot of times folks search around wondering what their truck can really tow with no issues, so I thought I'd give a trip report.

The Truck: 09 Silverado Ext. Cab Z71 5.3 L 3:73 Gears. P3 Brake Controller

The Trailer: 2012 Rockwood Roo 23SS Dry Weight 4100-4200lbs

Eq3 WDH with Sway control

My Self, My Wife, 12 yo Son, and 3 yr Son

Clothes and goodies for a wedding and 2 days, 3 nights stay.

My Trip was from O'Fallon, IL to Hayti, MO= 210 miles down I-55 South

When I left, the outside Temps never got above 87F. Tranny Temps Ran from 175-185F and this was with the A/C on and off.

When I came back home, outside temps ran 98-101F for the majority of the trip with temperatures dropping to about 90 by the end of the trip. The Trans temp hit 190F 1 time and then was in the range of 183-187F the remainder of the time. My average speed as 60mph until the last 1 hour of my trip, when I got off the interstate and took back roads and then average speed was 40mph.

10.6 MPG

I'd be happy to answer any and all questions that anyone might have.
