Got Some Question, Need Some Answers

Hello,

 

Brand new to the site. I have some questions regarding a GMC I have owned for the last 7 years. I have never given much thought to it till recently. I own a 1970 GMC Custom Camper. I have tried looking up info on thise but can not find a thing (maybe I am looking in the wrong places). Any how here are some photos of her. She is in running order and has a strong will. The only thing I have been able to find out is that the camper part was made here in CA. Other than that, I don't know if this was a dealer option, factory option, owner add on or what ?!?!?

If you have any info for me it would be much appreciated .

Seein this ol' truck make's me miss my ol' 85 sierra classic. But From the looks of it either its an back in the day custom camper or it was some type of option not at a dealership per say, but maybe gm dealership had a partnership with a local company and created a few of these built on campers but I too am in the dark on one of these being that its the first I've ever seen. Hopefully some one knows about this more than I!

Alright well seeing this I had to do some digging and sure enough I found out about these custom campers, Turns out I was right, chevy made these trucks to accept campers in the bed and built onto the frame, and in the link below you will read that the campers were locally done for people at camper manf's, So whoever put the camper on sure loved the outdoors and had some money! hope this helps you out.

 

Oh in the link go to the 71 year model and click on recreation, it will show you the original brochure from that year it came out, the 70 model didnt have much info.

Wow, those adds are awesome. The reason I am trying to get info on these, is because I am thinking of selling it. I have it parked out in the desert here for a kind of weekend get away camper at my sportsmans club. And in the last year I have been looking at it and saying " I am letting this engine/truck rot out here). I just think it is an awesome truck and don't want it to go to waste.

Do you know what something like this might go for ?

You could probably look on NADA Classics, but the only thing is that it may not have the camper combo so the value on one of those is unknown to me but if its it a pretty good cond. with a good motor and interior, including the camper, should do fairly well
