Rear End Help

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am new here and have a question. I have an 2006 Sierra 1500 2wd. I can not figure out what rear end I have. RPO code is G80 = axle, rear, positraction, limited slip positraction l/slip r/axl(G80). This is not from an online VIN check site. This is right from the dealer. Its my understanding that G80 is an eaton locker? And G86 is limited slip. Or am I totally confused?

Thanks

You are correct,G80 is the Eaton locking differential

No,the build sheet is correct. As long as you have G80 you have the locking differential. I have seen the G80 described as both "POSITRACTION,LIMITED-SLIP" and "LOCKING REAR DIFFERENTIAL"

Basically GM uses the "G80" code for both, you see I have both a Silverado and a new Camaro SS,both have G80,however in my Silverado its a "locking" rear-differential,in my Camaro SS its a "limited-slip" rear differential.

If you want post me the last 8 digits of your VIN and I'll run it for you.

You should have G80 and GT4 or G80 and GT5. Look at your glove box sticker again, or use Compnine to tell you.
