cfitz Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 I've been experiencing a clunk/snapping coming from under the truck on acceleration only. It seems to be confined to the driver's side. I replaced the transmission mount when I replaced the torque converter. Noise became present about a month or so after so I don't think its related. Checked the rivets where the torsion bar mounts crossmember attaches to frame, these are ok. Sway bar links new. The torsion bar mounts seem ok. It feels like the torsion bars are loose, but when I check them they are tight. Before I start throwing parts at this thing, anyone run into this before and was able to fix it? Thanks!
Stevens03 Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Do you have step bars?... and if so, did you check the body mounts? Some steps tend to creak, clunk when the body flexes. Just something to check.

Just something to check. No step bars. I was looking at the body mounts the other day as matter of fact-they look a little dry but I've seen worst. I'll look further into this thanks
Stevens03 Posted September 29, 2011 Posted September 29, 2011 Does it happen when you slow down, then get on the gas again? Or when coming to a stop feel like a bump? If so, I'd repack the splines with grease on the slip yoke. Just another idea.

I thought about the spline thing too but I would think the noise would be heard/felt in the middle of the truck? This noise is only coming from the driver's side. I like your idea of the body mounts. Truck only has 88k on it, but its a little rusty
