(What) Emergency/Parking Brake ?

Had my 2000 Z-71 almost two months now and noticed as soon as I got it that the emergency brake pedal went very easily to the floor like there was no resistance at all.  Never really checked it out untill about a week or two ago.  First, when I was going to check the aux. back-up lights I installed, I put it in neutral on my driveway (which has a slight incline) and pushed the pedal all the way down and the sucker just kept right on rolling.  Learned real fast I'm going to have to chock the wheels anytime I'm doing work on this truck.  So I turn the adjuster all the way in and still no hold.  So I then modified the adjuster with a bunch on extra washers to give me about 3/4"-1" more adjustment on the cable--still won't hold.  About two days ago, I backed it out of the garage and rolled it to almost touching my daughters car in the driveway(I was too lazy to move hers back), put it in park and set the parking brake, and when I let off the regular brake pedal it rolled back just enought to barely hit her car.  I know its not just my truck.  I've seen post in the Avalanche website complaining about the same problem.  I guess my question is is there a safety recall on this or a TSB concerning a fix.  My truck has 46000 miles on it so it is out of warranty but just wondering if GM has a fix for it. :D

Behind the rear disk brakes is where your parking brake shoes are hiding. I'd say there worn out, or just might need adjusting.

Your not alone bro.

These new EBrakes suck the big one.

Just adjust it and it will last a bit longer till you gotta do it again or replace the shoes.
