Transfer case trouble

Hi everyone. I have a 2001 Chevy 2500HD ext cab s/b 8.1 6spd manual with manual shift transfer case. Here's my problem: When I pull out and start going through the gears, the t-case sounds like its Getn stuck between 2wd and neutral. Makes a grinding noise. Seems to do it when shifting gears or coasting...especially in 5th or 6th gear....when its not under "load". The t-case is full of fluid. It has also done this while climbing a hill in 4low....was fine while I was giving it throttle but as soon as I let off the gas it popped out...."neutral"

you got trouble bud,

you need to find a gear place that does this all the time ,,,or a dealer ,they have done a few as well..

it has to be diag'd then come out and apart and an estimate is presented to you

between 2wd and neutral makes no sence,it cant do that by itself unless some weird crap is goin on ,

good luck

Great....just what I didn't want to hear :( Everybody brags these 2500hds up but I'm not seein it. Mine has 95000 miles on it. My dad has an 03 Super Duty with 250,000 hard miles on it and hasnt had any kind if trouble like this

. I've owned Ford and Chevy trucks and like Chevy better but I've had more trouble with GM durability compared to the Fords:$

I know there are no end all trucks or we'd all have one :) Super Duty has had their own share of trouble..ie, #7 spark plug/ coil pack issues etc. I'm just a lil upset because I bought the 2500HD and figured that since I don't tow or haul anything that I would only have to do regular maintenance and would be a ling time before I had to do any major powertrain work. Adding to the insult is that I've only put about 3,500 miles on it in the past 14 months.
