02 silverafo High beam power for Aux lights - how to?

Hello, I haven't visited this forum for awhile and I hope I am asking in the right section.

 

If not, please either move my post, or point me in the proper direction.

 

 

I have a set of older PIAA driving lamps (dual lamp design, fog/driving with a 3 post switch) that I have had hooked up to my truck for quite sometime. I have always run them on a constant 12v power source which I never liked.

 

I prefer to have turn on and off with my high beam, but still have the switch to control them manually, only when the high beam is on. I have never been able to figure out how to accomplish this though.

 

 

I do have my lights wired that all 4 are on when high beam is on. I accomplished this with the original method of grounding the yellow wire under the fuse panel. Undoing this hasn't changed my issue.

 

I understand that the high and low function is controled by one relay on this year truck ('02) and that it is the ground that controls between the high and low beam switch. Hence why grounding the low beam allows them to stay on when the high is selected.

 

What i am trying to do is control the relay for my driving lamps from the High Beam switch and I become lost.

 

I've tried running the 12v line from the 3 post switch to the high beam and the lights stay on regardless of the high/low switch postion when turned on.

 

I've tried using the relay ground and putting it on the high beam and leaving the 12v on a constant, and the lights remain on all the time.

 

Any help would be appreciated. I can still switch the lights off manually, but its quicker to be able to dim everything with the highbeam switch for on coming traffic and then I never forget to dim the driving lamps either.
