Best Prices for Tires Online?

Recommended Posts

Looking for 305/40-45/22 tires and wondering who online has the best deals for a new Yukon Denali.  All the locals here in Reno are wanting $400 a tire!!  No happening! ;-)

Thanks...Rich

Buying tires online can have pitfalls.

By the time you order, pay shipping, and then have someone local mount and balance them....Almost not worth the hassle unless you are getting something that you just CANNOT get locally.

Got to also account for the free rotation and flat repair that most local places do.  I paid to have mine rotated last time....hey that was a quick $20 ya know.  Over time it adds up.

My local tire guy usually does me okay...not EVER the cheapest...but usually the best!

I don't no if you have a Sams Club where you live but they can special order just about any make or size tire.  I went and got a price for my MTR's there which was 192.00 list and they gave me a price of 152.00 ea.  They had trouble getting them from Goodyear and I went to the Goodyear Dealer and they honored the price of 152.00 ea. Thought it was worth mentioning, 160.00 bucks is a lot of money.

Tire Rack has excellent prices and the delivery should be reasonable (and quick) considering they have a warehouse in Sparks!

They have an installer locator on their main web page (http://www.tirerack.com ) at the bottom.  Plug in your ZIP code and you will get a list of installers in your area.

There are places that will either meet or beat Tire Rack prices.  Discount Tire and Sears are two that should give you comparable deals.  Costco would be another good place if you're a member and they carry what you want.  The local Costco here is big on Michlein.   Les Shwab would be another place to shop, but they do not push name brands.

Obviously the biggest concern is the degree of capability in the "technician" installing the tires.  I have seen too many inexperienced people running the machines and some dont even give a $*** about your wheels.

Get quotes and take the low bid to your favorite store that has what you want and see if they will beat the low bid.
