Does anyone have a Pioneer...

Does anyone have a Pioneer DEH-P77DH head unit?  If so, do you have any pics of it installed, and how do you like it as far as reliability and ease of use?

Looking mainly for info on just replacing the head unit, I'm not changing speakers, or adding any extra stuff to the sound system.

I do.  I love it!!!!!  I don't have any current pics, but, if no one else posts any, I can take some after work and send them to you.

I've had this HU for over 2 years now.  It has been great.  No problems at all.  Plus there are three preamp outs.  Good for me as I'm adding another sub and another amp to it in about a month.

It is a very versatile head.  There is a 3 band GE, but you can go in and change individual frequencies for each band.  Plus you can control different things for a sub right from the head.

On a scale from 1-10 for most value for your buck, I'd give it a solid 10. :thumb:

I just installed the very similar DEH-P47DH in my wifes Bonneville. I got it for $180 bucks on the net. She really likes it. I think it looks pretty cool. Sound is good. Controls are great. And it takes up the whole spot.

Had one in my last truck, traded the truck so quick I couldnt pull it out first. Understandable going from Dodge to Chevy, huh? Ran while I could! I loved it, plenty of power.

One more question.

Is it a "plug and play" type installation since it's made for GM/Chrysler vehicles?  Basicly, do I need to get an additional wiring harness or a mounting kit for it to work in my truck, or does it come with everything needed?

Thanks.

How did you install the pioneer 1.5 din cd player in a 2002 truck?  I recently purchased a pioneer deh-45dh (1.5 din, so its supposed to work in gm vehicles) and noticed that the old cd player slides on two rails and has two plastic clips, one on each side, that hold it into place...no screws, or screw holes in the dash or anything...

Is there a special adapter plate that i can buy to get it to fit?

Thanks for any information...

yes there is installation kits that will let you put the smaller size HU's in the gm opening...

but I think he talking bout the full din size pioneer like the one I have...  it's a direct factory replacement

You can get these from Crutchfield.com for $8.00.

Thanks for the link - so do those attach directly to the pioneer cd player, or will I need any other installation kits for it? Again, its a 1.5 din pioneer cd player (deh-45dh)...

I'm assuming those are all you need to actually mount it.  I just ordered a DEHP77DH over the weekend.  I also ordered the mounting kit ($8) and wiring harness ($5) from Crutchfield.  I'll let you know how they go on when I get them.

I ordered the headunit from Etronics.com.  It was only $214 there, including S&H.
