First off Hi all I'm new to the forums :seeya: and I'm in the market for a truck. I've had a lot of mid size trucks but never a full size truck I just recently sold an 06 GMC Canyon that thing was a major P.O.S.!!! horrible engine constant problems but thats another story. So I've been looking into a GMC Sierra 1500 or a Chevy Silverado 1500 which ever I find that I like, I found this one I hope I can post the link http://www.ksl.com/auto/listing/1049577?ad_cid=44 I'm just curious if thats a good deal?? I want a vehicle thats going to last me a long time. Is that equipped with a good engine reliable engine? Also is there a risk buying one thats been lifted like that? I like the feeling of riding high personally but just trying to get some input. You can also view the carfax for it from that page seems to check out what do you all think?? Thanks in advance for the help :help:

Welcome, doing just a quick run through on KBB, it is list at about 3,000 more than what KBB lists for a private seller. If you really like this truck I would try to talk them down a little, but I don't think that it is outrageously priced. Personally I felt the price was more than what I would want to pay for it, but it does have fairly low miles considering the year.

In my opinion the 5.3 used prior to the introduction of AFM was next to bulletproof. If there is a weak spot in the drivetrain of the 99-06 trucks it would be the 4l60e transmissions. Many people do very well with these trannys, but if they've had any abuse, heavy towing, etc. there are quite a few stories of them going out around 100K. I would worry very little about an 80K mile LS engine, but based on your question of risk with the lift, and with that lift and larger tires and a 3.42 rear I'd take a look at the tranny fluid to at least see what color it was, if it smelled burnt, etc. Otherwise this looks like a nice truck for it's model year.

I bought my 06 silverado with a 5.3, 3.42 rear end, z71, 4x4, but it is a crew cab last January. It had 73,000 miles on it with cloth interior really no frills for 16,800. But it did not have the tires, wheels, and lift that the truck you are looking at has. Good frame of reference though.
