gave20 Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 do you guys know how the Corsa sounds when compared to a flowmaster. I like the sound of the flowmaster (nice and throaty) but would prefer to get a corsa (not a big fan of anything associated with a rustang) but I'm not sure if they are as deep as a flowmaster. On the Corsa website they sound raspy and high pitched. Maybe its by speakers playing tricks on me. What do ya think?
toddoughty Posted March 19, 2003 Posted March 19, 2003 I personally like the Corsa much better, but to each his own. I think Flowmaster sounds too "raunchy", and resonates a lot in the cab.
tbyrne Posted April 4, 2003 Posted April 4, 2003 I've heard a few trucks with the Flowmaster and they are pretty aggressive sounding all of the time. The Corsa how a mellow sound during normal driving so it's not loud inside the cab but will give you a nice sounding, aggressive sound at wide open throttle. You will also see about 10hp from this upgrade. Tom
canadianchevy33 Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 The flowmaster is a much deeper throatier sound compared to the corsa and it alsoresonates alot in the cab. As for performance lots of ppl have actually said that the corsa hurt the performance of their vehicles. I dont think corsa even has claims as to gains in horsepower all they say is increased airflow i beleive. Hope this helps.
fmjcafe Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 I have a Corsa system on my truck and didn`t notice a change in performance one way or the other but I put it on at the 3K mark on the odometer and hadn`t really jumped on the truck before installing it. As far as losing performance with a higher flow exhaust, I have heard people state that with some high flow systems you could experience a loss of low end torque but I`ve never heard anyone say specifically that the Corsa system caused a loss of performance.
canadianchevy33 Posted April 6, 2003 Posted April 6, 2003 Ive only heard corvette owners saying it hurt there performance and dyno numbers. They have lost a tenth off the quarter mile and almost 5 hp at the dyno. A few people have said this.
marc_w Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Tom worded that pretty good... -The flowmasters are loud and angry all the time. -The Corsa only is when you put your foot into it. I have a Corsa on my truck... I believe it's actually a little louder than Flowmasters when you're hard on the gas. You probably know that the Corsa muffler is straight through, with just a few small ports to capture certain frequencies, and use them against themselves to kill resonation and quiet the exhaust at 'conservative' throttle levels. Once you overpower the mufflers ability to do that efficiently (with any moderate throttle application, at any RPM), all heck breaks loose. It basically turns into a straight pipe.
marc_w Posted April 8, 2003 Posted April 8, 2003 Oh, just to comment on power: I didn't notice any missing power when I installed mine. If anything, the topend felt a little stronger. It's hard to tell with all the added noise.
