daylight / night dash sensor

I have had my second Acadia (2017) for about a year and a half, about the same amount of time it took my first Acadia to develop the sunload sensor problem. Two Acadia's different years, same problem. The sensor dome is unobstructed and the dash light stay in night mode while driving in bright sun, randomly. Most often, they stay in night mode after starting out in the AM daylight and do not switch over for about five minutes. I had a protracted fight with the dealer on this with my first Acadia, they said they could not duplicate the problem. All they did was crank the brightness control all the way up so The dash light were visible in night mode during the day, but were way too bright when it switched over to day mode. I am resolving my self to the fact that this is just an inherent bug with GMC. I told my sales person at the dealership that I will just get a flashlight to read the speedometer and radio until the mode switched over.
