1990 c1500 build

So I've got a 1990 gmc 1500 2nd I'm wanting to do a motor swap in. I'll be posting some links but I'm wanting to build a 383 and keep the tbi possibly. I've found a tbi 350 from a 95 if I remember right. I know everything is going to be changed but are there certain years that would bolt right in? Should I stick with a tbi or carb 350 or could I go with a vortec, lt1 etc? I'm gonna have to do a transmission rebuild before I put this motor in as is mine is skipping. So I've got a bit of time and plan on buying parts here and there and hopefully this time next year it will be complete. Anyways, these are some of the links I'm using as guidelines.
