20" offset and backspacing

I was wondering what the anyone has found for a good backspace and offset for 20" rims? I want to use a tire width from 275 to 305 on my 4x4 street truck without sticking out too far and/or rubbing the fenders or wells. Thanks for any input! ???

How big of a sidewall do you want? I have a 2wd and used to have 20's with 275/45's and they were flush with the fender.

I will stay with an overall height of 30" same as current stock tires. Probably around 45-50 aspect ratio.

-5.5 is what works on these trucks up to a 9" width

I put 18x9 with a 5.00 offset on my wifes Suburban and ran 285's and it fills the wells perfectly with not rubbing or trimming. I know it's not a 20", but I also had to put 55 aspect ratio to match the stock height.
