This FAQ was adderessed as follows:

"Q. Is there a problem with the power stearing gearbox on Chevy/GMC trucks?

A. Yes, the frame has a tendency to break (the box will push thru the frame) and needs to be reinforced. If you do alot of off-roading or have oversized tires this is mandatory."

 

Anyone ever heard about this? ???

Apparently it's possible.  JCWhitney has a kit for it ... click here and you can pick out which one you need.  As for personally experiencing it, I have not.

Looks like a false alarm.

Your responses were consistent, as the JC Whitney item is designed for the '73-'87 models.  No worry for '03.  :thumb:
