Need info on installing a mechanical oil press. gauge

Hey guys, I'll try to keep this short and sweet as I can. The oil pressure gauge hasn't worked on my 06 GMC sierra 1500 with an L33 5.3 since I got the truck a few weeks ago, after research and hearing about the stepper motors going out I decided to buy a mechanical gauge to hook up until I can figure out if my oem gauge is the problem or not. I haven't had the tools to get the sender out of the block so I don't even know if my gauge will mount up. Going to napa in the morning to buy the socket I need, I need a deep well 1 1/16 right? Then I plan on installing the gauge. Questions I have are..

1. What size adapter do I need to make the fitting on my gauge fit my block? The gauge came with an adapter but doesn't have any indication of what size or what it may fit. I'm not sure what size fitting I'm going from either, but its small probably not even as big around as my pinky.

2. How/where should I hook the wires for the gauge illumination up? I'd like it to just come on at key on and don't want to complicate things too much because I dont plan on sticking with the mech gauge. I have a universal pillar pod I'm going to stick on with double sided tape so the gauge will be right above the fuse panel if that info helps you guys help me lol.

Any tips or suggestions are appreciated, thanks!
