sluggish Yukon XL

Hi. I'm new to the forum. I own a 2002 Yukon XL Denali. Didn't see a forum for that.

The denali has got 230,000+ miles on it. We bought it new so I'm familiar with what's been done to it and how it's been serviced. We've handed it down to our son. He puts a bunch of miles on it fishing. We live in Colorado so there is also a lot of mountain driving. The car doesn't seem to have a lot of power and this is somewhat of a problem riding up the mountains. In the past I remember having a vacuum problem, at least I think that was the problem, with the plastic manifold. I think they ended up grinding that flat to fix the vacuum problem. This was many years ago. Not sure if I'm running into a similar problem or something else is going on or this is just what to expect when driving this car fully loaded up mountains. Just looking for suggestions on what options I might have. I haven't mentioned this to the dealer yet.

I'm up for spending a few/several thousand dollars on the car to get it in good shape so that my son has a safe reliable car to drive. I think that's a better option than purchasing a used car which I don't know the history of. The Yukon is also a good car for my son as he's a fishing guide and the room in the car comes in useful for him.

Thanks,

Nick
