2004 1500 4X4 Transfer case ?

Hi All I posted this in the 2500 section by mistake :

 

Hi all new member here I have a 2004 Silverado 1500 4x4 with a transfer case issue, Constant clicking and snapping, I am going to replace it with a used unit. It is a 246 with the 4 button dash shift. The data tag reads

 

246 GM

1528 0859

5 24 04K2

272

 

the replacement I have found is from a 2001 and the tag reads

 

246 GM

1503 2438

3 3 99K2

272

 

I know there both 246 cases, and the first numbers line 3 are the build date, the last is the ratio (272)

 

Is the later a bolt in replacement for the defective one in the truck? Thanks
