Check this out...custom body work

Courtesy of my wife backing into a little tree along the neighbor's driveway:

Busted out the taillight on the passenger side and put a crease in the body metal along the taillight opening but it's hard to see in the photo. Also cracked the paint along the edge of the opening. Lights all work though so that's one nice thing! :D

Whattya guys think this'll cost her(me)? I'm guessing:

Taillight assembly: $150

New body panel (unless it can be mended) : $400

Labor/Paint : $200

I'm thinking I may just replace the taillight right now and leave the sheet metal alone for awhile.

Awwww, man!!! That sucks. :D

I'm guessing $500 -$600 to have a shop fix it.

I got this small dent in my Blazer like 3 or 4 days after I bought it from some dummy who couldn't put his shopping cart back at the supermarket and the shop quoted me like $500 to fix.

Ron,

I'd check ebay for some taillights. Might find a set for pretty cheap from someone who put clear's, euro's, etc. on theirs (if they make them).

Bowtie_pasta,

Was that for paintless dent repair? I had 3 dents (2 drivers door, 1 passenger door) taken out at a local body shop that did the paintless dent removal, for $125. You might want to shop around for a better price if so. :D

That's funny you mention that Tom. I ended up finding a guy who does just such a thing. He did the major dent and several other tiny dings over my whole truck for $200. I was sooooo happy!!!

People that do the paintless dent repair are hard to find though. Not everyone can do it. It really is a talent to be able to do it right.

I knew it was on it's side :cool: , I just thought it kind of looked like an aftermarket clear, altezza, carbon fiber, etc type of taillight. :sigh:

My wife did the exact same thing on our 04 Trailblazer.. she backed into the handles of our snowblower. Popped a hole clear through the passenger side lense.

Does anyone know where I can get the lense online, and what the exact part number is?

I'm guessing the lens will have to be purchased with the whole assembly and what not..

You should be able to find a replacement tail lamp assembly on ebay. Just search Ebay TrailBlazer tail lamp, light or lens.

Thanks Envoy Fan,

I ended up doing just that after I posted.. Saw a bunch of stuff at around $50 or so for what was described as "OEM Style" which didn't make me feel better since I didn't know the quality of it.

There were a few where users were selling used ones, but also close to $45-50 as well. Finally I found one user who was selling two like new taillamps, used OEM factory units - no reserve, auction was at $12.49.. which is what I ended up getting it for. I'm waiting for them to arrive. I'll keep you guys posted.
