1993 Full Size Blazer Manual Tranny??

Got a buddy with a 1993 or so full size blazer with a manual transmittion. This thing is finally wearing out and he wants to replace it with a new or rebuilt. YOu guys got any ideas????

He's got a New Venture 3500 5-speed tranny. There are a few companies that sell rebuild kits for them.

 

Is he sure the tranny is going out? It could just be the clutch is toast or misaligned.

I listened to it today at the boat ramp and its sounds like a throwout bearing and or pressure plate to me. He thinks he has found a rebuilt one for $700 or so.

IT'S THE TRANNY. PULLED PLUG TO CHANGE THE OIL AND FOUND METAL ON FILL AND DRAIN PLUGS. IT IS A GETRAG MG5. I NEED A REBUILT CHEAP FROM SOMEWHERE IN TEXAS. THANKS IN ADVANCE, STONE
