New respect for Gordon

I'm a big Nascar fan but as a transplanted Brit, grew up with F1.

Did anyone see 'Trading Paint' on Speedvision? Basically they took Jeff Gordon and F1 driver JP Montoya and put them in each others cars. Even though they only got to drive a few laps (maybe 10) around the Indy infield road course, Gordon, who had never driven an F1 car had Montoya's Williams BMW within 6 seconds of an F1 qualifying time and looked really impressive. Even the Williams crew were surprised at how eaily Gordon handled the car.

Even more impressive was the fact that Montoya had the DuPont Monte Carlo within a second of Gordons track times in the same car from that morning.

I'm sure Speedvision will rerun the show. It is well worth watching. Here's a link to a story I found on the web.

actually, he loves road courses....so I'm not too surprised he ran that good. The man has talent...

Yeah, I seen that. It was pretty neat. I'm not a big Indy/CART/IRL or what ever they all are now, but I do like F1 races, and usually try to watch them Sunday mornings.

I'd like to see them do that with other drivers and racing series like they talked about on the show.

That would be cool. I would like to see some of the cup guys run some off road vehicles.

That would be interesting to see - from concrete to dirt!

I think if someone is that talented, they can drive anything but off-roading requires diff skills since the terrain is not flat- sometimes far from it!
